All rests to-day; and as I lie,
With idle heart and idle eye,
I dream, and as I dream I hear
The brawling Dochart in my ear.
He sings; and all the silence fills
With outlines of the Highland Hills.

From: Killin, a poem by the Scottish poet Alexander Anderson

Killin is a picturesque village in the heart of Scotland amidst beautiful mountain scenery. It sits in the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and is convenient for trips to the West, but within an easy distance of Perth, Stirling and Glencoe as well. It was our base on the journey to Scotland early July.
Killin is dominated by the Falls of Dochart, a series of rapids in the river Dochart and right in the center of the village. As the sun sets behind the Ben Lawers mountain range, for landscape photography the best direction at sunset is northwest towards the bridge. For details of the falls, however, the opposite direction is better, as the water then flows towards you.
